Yup. Even as I write it I cannot believe it is actually happening. I got the e-mail today saying we will be taping on Thursday about noon EST. Annie asked if I make it at that time ..hahahahahahahahaha - who is the CRAZY person who says no? I will jump through hoops of fire to make this work out. At the same, time since she did ask, I wonder who the fool is who says nope it doesn't work for them? How is their business doing?
So today was full of e-mails, coordinating schedules, school pick-ups, soccer practice and trying tog et everyone else where they nee to be that day so I can do what I need to do.
So what do you do to prepare for this type of thing? I have no idea. So I am going to over prepare rather than under prepare. I am thinking that I should bring the following:
a few copies of
- a Non-disclosure
- Business Plan
- Projections
- Marketing Plan
- 30 second pitch
- information regarding my website, blog, contact info, etc.
- I am going to see who will be on the show to do a little background snooping to make sure these people know I am serious
I need to have answers to questions they might possibly ask. My thoughts so far are:
Why this business?
What will you do if you don't get the money?
What have you done to make this happen?
What have you invested?
OK so I am sure you are going to think I am nuts but I have a few things I am hoping to get done before I go on the show. I contacted my FABULOUS printing company and begged for a shirt with my website across the chest. This way when they just take a head-shot, my info is on the screen the entire time. Since I am on a TIGHT budge and I look terrible (seriously, you stay up till 3 or 4 each night for weeks at a time and let me know how you look, not too good.) I have not done a thing for or to myself in ages. I contacted a few salons to see if they can help a MOMpreneur out and give me a respectable look for my TV spot. I know, you think I am off my rocker, but I need to look the part. Who is going to give their money or time to someone who looks like a car wreck? (Seriously, it is pretty close to that now).
We shall see how it all works out but I am so thankful for the opportunity, nervous to know it is only 2 days away and that there is so much to do before I get there.
Any suggestions, thoughts or comments on how to prepare, what to wear, etc. I am all ears.
Things just got interesting ~
In stitches,
Colleen
